Seven members of Budworth's RS200 fleet acquitted themselves with distinction when they took on high quality opposition at this year's prestigious Great North Asymmetric Challenge (GNAC) at Bassenthwaite. As well as the 200s of Martin and Sian Joesbury, Jon and Heather Ward plus Jon Chapman and Wendy Martin, Alistair Coates was also on the water at the front end of a 400.

Eight races were packed into the weekend in testing conditions, ranging from Force 2 to gusting Force 5. Add to the mix more than 20 RS400s, 22 RS200s and various other asymmetric boats including a Nacra catamaran all on the same course and you begin to understand why the event is called a Challenge!

Racing was intense, often even frenetic, but Budworth sailors were in the top five every time and ended the weekend with an impressive set of results. Congratulations to Alistair and helm Dave Exley on third place overall while, in the 200 fleet, Martin and Sian were third, Jon and Wendy fifth and Jon and Heather eighth.
