Philpot Pursuit Trophy 2025 Sunshine, Sails and a Splash of Rainbow Magic!
Published 23:03 on 3 Nov 2025
Sunday's Philpot Pursuit Trophy at Budworth Sailing Club delivered one of the most enjoyable days of the autumn season, with 27 boats taking to the water for an afternoon of close and competitive racing.
Sailors were greeted with perfect conditions a steady warm breeze, golden autumn sunshine, and the occasional burst of colour from the trees surrounding the Mere. As if that wasn't enough, a rainbow made a brief but beautiful appearance, adding a touch of magic to an already stunning day on the water.
The fleet represented a great mix of classes, with both single- and double-handers battling it out across the pursuit format with 3x one hour races. Racing was tight throughout, but it was Russ and Ali Cormack in their GP14 who showed great pace and consistency to take the Philpot Pursuit Trophy win.
The event once again showcased the friendly yet competitive spirit that defines Budworth Sailing Club a day full of smiles, spray, and skilful sailing.
A huge thank you to Mark Philpot and his PRO team for their excellent race management and smooth running of the day. Their organisation and experience helped deliver another memorable event to close out the season in true Budworth style.
Congratulations to all who took part and made it such a great day and here's to many more perfect sailing days on the Mere!
