Racing
Budworth Sailing Club is one of the premier racing clubs in the North West, having produced many national champions over the years, not to mention a sprinkling of world champions. The prime focus of the club is on racing, and as part of this focus the club has a number of adopted classes, and no menagerie fleet.
Please check the Event Calendar for details of the racing on any particular week.
On Sundays we enjoy class racing , where each fleet competes against others sailing the same boats.
Saturday afternoons is a little more relaxed than the main Sunday racing, so provides an ideal sail for those who are less competitive. It's also a great time to get out and "spend time on the water". There are separate Handicap and Raceboard starts.
Saturday dinghy racing is
open to visitors and to all classes of dinghy with a PY above 960.
For a small fee of £6 per day, visitors may sail on up to 10 Saturdays each year and participate in the racing.
On Wednesday evenings (from May onwards) we can enjoy a sail after work, in handicap races open to any of the adopted club classes.
If you would like any further information about Saturday racing, please contact the Racing secretary.
If you would like more information, just contact me or the fleet captain, who will be happy to chat with you about their class and the racing in general at Budworth.
You can email the Racing Secretary here.
If you are thinking of taking up sailing for the first time, have a look at our section on "Choosing a boat" in the How to Join section of our site.
We look forward to welcoming you to Budworth this year.
