Grand Reopening Party Celebrates Budworth's Refurbished Clubhouse and New Bar

Budworth Sailing Club members gathered recently to celebrate the grand reopening of the clubhouse following an extensive winter refurbishment project that has transformed both the clubroom and bar areas.
The event marked the culmination of months of planning and hard work, resulting in a brighter, more welcoming and modern space for members and visitors to enjoy for many years to come.
During the evening, Commodore Phil Hackney addressed those gathered to reflect on the project and thank the many volunteers, contractors, committee members and supporters whose efforts made the refurbishment possible. Phil highlighted the significant investment made in the club's facilities and the importance of creating a clubhouse that matches the quality of sailing and community spirit for which Budworth is renowned.
A particular highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the new name for the club bar. Members were delighted to learn that the bar will now be known as "Jack's", in honour of Dr Jack Kennedy-Young, one of the founding members of Budworth Sailing Club. The naming serves as a fitting tribute to one of the individuals whose vision and commitment helped establish the club and create the foundations on which it continues to thrive today.
The celebrations provided an opportunity for members to explore the refurbished facilities, catch up with friends and raise a glass to the future of the club. The transformed spaces have already received widespread praise and will provide a fantastic venue for social events, prize givings, training sessions and post-race refreshments. The event also coincided with the Autumn Series Prize Giving, recognising the achievements of those sailors who braved the cooler months to enjoy some fantastic racing on the Mere.
The reopening marks an exciting new chapter for Budworth Sailing Club, combining modern facilities with a proud heritage as the club looks forward to another successful season both on and off the water.
