Annual General Meeting – 11th Nov 7.30pm – mark you diaries

This is where we review the past year and the strategic direction of the club, elect new committee members, request our duty dates for 2016 etc. If you want to know what we are trying to achieve and have your say please attend.

The club is reliant on volunteers and we are looking for volunteers in the following committee roles for 2015-2016:

Treasurer – Paul Foden has served us well but has decided to move on. We are looking for someone who can help us keep a strong hand on the financial tiller. We need a person who can understand normal accounting practices and will generally watch over the finances of the club – this is a flag officer role and that person will work closely with the other flag offices and the wider committee.

Social Secretary – Ali, who has also done a great job is moving on, so we are looking for someone to pick up this crucial role. As part of the Strategic plan it was recognised that the social side of the club is critical to attracting new members along with keeping our existing membership happy. If you are interested, let Ali Cormack bscsocsec@budworthsc.org.uk or myself know. She has kindly agreed to assist the person who takes over, for a transition period.

Committee Member – without portfolio – We have a few positions that do not have a specific role. This is an ideal position for a new member who wants to get involved but doesn’t fully understand how the committee works or what role might interest them in the future. They might be asked to help out with one off tasks or possibly, advise and guide as appropriate.

Webcollect assistant – This is not a committee role (don’t need to attend committee meetings) but we need someone who can help administer webcollect. If you have PC skills you will be perfect for the job. This role is quiet most of the year but requires some effort when we are setting up subs for the coming year, normally around this time of the year. Apart from that it is just about setting up event payments through the year, now and then.

I know people lead really busy lives nowadays but it can be very satisfying volunteering. You can make a big difference at the place where you may spend the bulk of your leisure time. Without volunteers the club would grind to a halt, so please volunteer if you can. Let me know if you are interested and we can have a chat when I am next at the club bsccomm@budworthsc.org.uk

See you on the water soon.
