Last weekend we had a great social event at Cottons. It was a lovely evening organised by Ali once again. With around 70 attending, it turned out to be a super night. Some pictures of the evening can be found here – thanks to Harry for taking them.
It was so enjoyable, we are going to do it again next year. You will therefore be able to get it in your diaries early as we plan to lock down the date soon, around about the same time – we will let you know.
Thanks to everyone that attended, I didn’t recognise most of you out of rubber but it is nice to see you all scrub up well.
Annual General Meeting
Thanks to all that attended the AGM. I was really impressed as I didn’t see anyone nod off as we waxed lyrical about the clubs future plans. In fact it was quite an interactive session and it was good to see engaged members.
It was much appreciated to see new faces volunteer for the committee and I am really grateful to all those previous members of the committee who agreed to carry on in their roles.
What was especially heartening was when Steve asked for help to run the working parties, four people volunteered to help him. Sometimes we forget just how much some people do and it was great to see members willing to help lighten the load.
In that vein we also had Mark Cleary, and Craig Hewitt volunteer for the tricky roles of Webcollect, Marketing and Pathways. Also special thanks to Steve Joyce for stepping into the crucial role of Treasurer. I pass on my sincere thanks to Paul, Ali and Miles as they step down.
This year we will be focusing on the priorities below and we have already set about handling two of the critical focus areas – Marketing and Pathways. As discussed at the meeting we need to keep attracting new members and make sure they have training available that matches their needs. Also existing members who already ‘get’ sailing need the best racing, facilities and social activities that the club can offer.
The wind is causing some issues with sailing at the moment. Last weekend it was blowing hard. I decided to head off to the coast for windsurfing but a few hardy members made the effort and I understand most enjoyed a dunking!
Today it looks to have been quite the opposite with very little wind and quite cold temperatures. Don’t let this put you off, milder conditions are set to return this week and hopefully some more dinghy friendly winds.
As a reminder we are still sailing on Sundays, starting at 12.00 so come and blow those winter blues away with a relaxing sail at Budworth.
Finally… Membership Renewal
Thanks to everyone who renewed their membership before the AGM. We have a high renewal rate this year and only a few who haven’t renewed. If you haven’t renewed yet but intend renewing, please can you renew ASAP, as this helps us schedule duties correctly for next year.
See you on the water soon.
