After sailing through the night, the team positions are A team 3rd, B team 20th and C team 36th. Congratulations to the A team, who have won the Midnight Cup! (fastest lap after midnight).

Breakfast please!

A special mentio must go to our key supporters, including Chris Allen as our 24 hour manager, Assisted overnight by Katie, our chef Jake who has kept the water boiling, the teatime soup and casserole hot, and is currently doing a brilliant job with morning breakfast bacon/ sausage baps to keep us all fuelled to the end!

Conditions remained quiet overnight, with a F2, occasionally F3, mostly S or SW.

This morning the wind has surprised us all by switching to the East, so offshore, which is very unusual for Southport. We were all expecting it to build this morning, but now anything could happen!

24 hour race 2017, sunny weather

Saturday afternoon in sunny weather

What a change! The sunshine continued through the afternoon, with shifty westerley winds. But this evening the wind dropped away, until all the boats just stopped as the wind completely disappeared. The boats and positions remained “frozen” until 10 minutes ago, when slight puffs on wind started, and boats have begun to move very slowly forwards!

At 9pm tonight the positions on the scoreboard were updated and showed Buworth A team in 9th, B team 27th, and C team slipping to 37th after unfortunately picking up a port-starboard penalty.

The wind is stll expected to be strong tommorrow morning, building up to the race finish at midday.

As the race gets underway, the sun comes out, the wind is great, all set for the start in much better conditions than we expected earlier when the rain was pouring down! Lets hope it lasts, as everyone has cheered up now 😀

As in previous years we take the Marquee plus most of its contents (Water bottles, BBQ, dried food, tables, Etc) to Southport on Wednesday September 6th September. Lots of help is required to erect the marquee and to set up camp. In the past we have left the boats inside the marquee on the Wednesday evening. Can you help and turn up at Budworth around 5.30 pm next Wednesday and help load the van plus travel in convoy to Southport arriving around 7 pm and leaving no later than 8 pm.
