Junior Camp Out – 16th July
We had a fantastic turnout at our Junior Camp Out the weekend before last, with 40 people, our largest turnout yet. The rain stopped and the skies finally cleared as we pitched our tents and the juniors enjoyed designing shields for an 8ft longboat built by Emily Whelan, crafting model boats and racing them across a mini lake. Games followed including firing potatoes from a trebuchet built by Nick Whelan at the longboat by now moored in the lake! Parents were then able to sit back and enjoy the BBQ whilst the children chased after clues in the treasure hunt organised by the older Juniors. We wrapped up the evening in customary fashion roasting marshmallows on the bonfire. A fantastic time was had by all. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped out over the course of the weekend and special thanks to Nick and Emily Whelan and to Sam Rocke who organised the craft activities and games.
The junior regatta took place the following day with a good turnout and five boats completing all four races. All sailors coped well despite a fickle wind. The racing was tightly contested and eventually won by Ealish Green.
